Megumi Wanibuchi (鰐淵 恵, Wanibuchi Megumi), also known as Megu (めぐ) is one of the understudies of AKB0048. She is from the 76th Generation, like Hazuki Yanagikawa, Mizuho Shirai, Himeko Ichioka, Umi Dozima, Rie Hasumi, Akira Shirado, and as well as Sae Miyazawa.
Appearance[]
Megumi has brown hair with pigtails tied up with orange hairbands and brown eyes. Like all ofAKB0048's successors and trainees, she has a heart shaped lining in her hair and eyes.
Personality[]
She often believes it is unfair because the 77th generation is more successful, indicating that she suffers from an inferiority complex. She's also jealous of the success of the 77th Generation and her former 76th Generation teammate, Youko, but does not resent her, rather is happy for her success later on. When it is announced that Mimori Kishida is becoming a successor, she tells the other understudies that as a successor she'll be completely different, causing the 77th Generation and Kanata to think she resents Youko; however during Mimori/Mariko's performance of Ue Kara Mariko, she proudly announces that she had predicted Mimori's transformation showing that she holds great respect for the successors.

Etymology[]
- The name Megumi means "favor, benefit" (恵).
- Megumi's surname Wanibuchi means "crocodile, alligator" (鰐) (wani) and "abyss, deep pool, depth" (淵) (fuchi/buchi).
Trivia[]
- Sonata Shinonome officially calls Megumi "Nasty" ever since in Episode 8 when Megumi shows her bitter attitude towards the entire 77th Generation.
- Megumi is called "Megu" by Sae Miyazawa and Hazuki Yanagikawa.
- In Episode 15, Megumi reveals that she voted for Sae, but members are not supposed to vote for each other.
- Megumi unknowingly gives a standing ovation for Sae when she ranked 9th at the General Elections until Hazuki points it out to her does she then sits back down embarrassed.
- Megumi's seiyuu is Kinoshita Momoka, a member of NMB48's Team M.
